How we are committing to sustainability at Salon Express Australia.
As Earth Day approaches, it’s important to reflect on the impact that our daily choices have on the planet. At Salon Express, we are committed to doing our part to reduce our environmental footprint and contribute to a more sustainable future. One way we are doing this is through our partnership with L’Oréal Professionnel Australia.
L’Oréal’s commitment to sustainability is impressive. Their new transformation program focuses not only on reducing their direct impact, but also on their indirect and extended impact, including the activity of their suppliers and the use of their products by consumers. Water, a vital resource in the creation and use of their products, is at the center of their efforts. They are working to ensure sustainable water access, management, and conservation across their value chain, as well as developing innovative products to reduce water consumption.
One such product is the L’Oréal Water Saver, which revolutionizes hair washing by reducing water consumption while improving the experience and effectiveness of care. By partnering with Gjosa, L’Oréal has developed a low-flow shower head that decreases the flow of water while accelerating the speed of the droplets. This, combined with easier-to-rinse shampoos, reduces energy consumption and water use by almost 65%.
At Salon Express, we are incorporating sustainable practices into our daily routine, both at home and in the salon. We spoke to some of our stylists & barbers to get insights on how they are implementing sustainable practices in the salon. Many explained how they aim to recycle household goods, reduce waste, choose plastic-free options, and collect plastic bottles.
In the salon, our stylist Vicki from Salon Express Whitfords, separates hair waste from general waste, conserves water by not leaving taps running when shampooing, and reuses scrap paper and bottles. She believes that sustainable practices benefit not only the environment but also our health and well-being, stating “By reducing landfill and breathing fresher air, we are contributing to a healthier planet for ourselves and future generations.”
